Vivian Green

b. Vivian Sakiyyah Green, 22nd May 1979, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

Vivian Green grew up in Philadelphia, where she started singing at an early age.

Her mother used to sing to her during her childhood making up tunes to help her with her reading, writing and mathemetics.

She began playing the piano at the age of eight and writing songs by the time she was 11.

At thirteen, Vivian became the fifth member of a girl group called Younique.

At 15, Vivian started pursing music seriously, sending out demos and writing songs for other artists.

She played wedding receptions and banquets along with other all night gigs.

Her break came when, at the age of 19, she was hired as a backup singer for, Philadelphia based, Jill Scott, who took her on tour internationally.

That connection eventually led to record company interest, and Green signed to Columbia Records in November 2001.

Her debut album, 'A Love Story', was released one year later and contained the tracks 'Wishful Thinking', 'No Sittin' By The Phone' and 'Keep On Going', all popular in the U.K.
