Shorty Long was an American soul singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer.
He recorded for Motown's Soul Records imprint.
In 1969, Shorty and a friend drowned when their boat capsized on the Detroit River in Michigan.
He was inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1980.
