Kelly Price

b. Kelly Price, 4th April 1973, Queens, New York, U.S.A.

Kelly Price, today, has re-located to Atlanta, Georgia.

She began her music career, as so many other soul artists, in the church and then in 1992 undertook singing, background vocals and writing chores for Mariah Carey, Faith Evans, Puff Daddy, Aretha Franklin, R Kelly and Notorious B.I.G.

However, Kelly didn't have her own solo releases until 1998 when Island signed her for their Black music label.

Here she released the album 'Soul Of A Woman' containing the track 'Friend Of Mine', which also saw a video release with a mix by R Kelly and Ronald Isley a.k.a. Mr. Biggs.

The song was a big hit, which led to the breakthrough she needed and Kelly was, subsequently, handpicked by Whitney Houston for her single 'Heartbreak Hotel' (also featuring Faith Evans), which was awarded a grammy for 'Best R & B duo or group' in 1999.

Her follow up album in 2000 'Mirror Mirror' saw further success containing the single 'Love Sets You Free' which featured Montell Jordan, Dru Hill, Case and a few others of contemporary R & B's current stars.
