Jimmy Lewis was an American R&B singer and songwriter from Mississippi.

Jimmy released several singles during the Sixties.

He wrote and arranged every track on Ray Charles' 1969 album 'Doing His Thing'.

Jimmy also wrote for the likes of Bobby Womack, Ted Taylor, and Z.Z. Hill.

He produced Latimore and Peggy Scot-Adams (her song 'Bill').

His solo album release was 1974's 'Totally Involved'.

Jimmy owned Miss Butch Records.

He is not the same person as the, Tennessee based, jazz bassist, Jimmy Lewis.
